Flip Floppers in politics

I understand calling our politicians flip floppers, my issue is that I am sure we have all flip flopped at some time in our lives. Isn't that just a sign of growing and learning, or with age comes wisdom? I used to be anti Police, until I got older and realized why they are necessary. I used to be anti military, until I joined the military.

Why are we so against politicians changing their stance on something, especially someone who has been around as long as Newt?

I am not pro Newt, I am just curious.

Lets try and not make this a left versus right issue. If you have to make it left vs right its cool, but lets agree that both sides do it. Thank you.

I will not delete any post, up to you to honor the CoH

I respect ANYONE who changes their mind, and owns it....but when you lie and deny what you once said....well that is a PANTS ON FIRE.

I think that if you wish to survive in todays political world you have to blow with the wind, or, at least this is what our current batch of politicians think.

Thank you GM,

Someday they (politicians) will all put America before party, hopefully we won't all be in line at the unemployment office before it happens.

Fernando, I am going to bet you that you did see the answer to your "Flip Floppers in Politic" question, farther than you see me answering it.

Newt is running for President of the United States, we are not. It is all ties to the President's credibility if he is going to handle such role with high magnitude of important and challenging responsibilities, etc. Is he trustworthy enough, is he being honest when asked certain line of questioning by reporters as well as anybody else, etc?

It is that simple.

If you flip-flop because you saw the other side of an argument and couldn't disagree with it on principle, that would be one thing. But, if it's a serial behavior and changes during election, then flips back after gaining office, I can assure you, it wasn't true principle. And if there is a trail of monetary or any other kind of personal gain that can be directly tied to the flip or the flop, then I think you can also agree that it's not because of principles, but more likely due to corruption.

I remember how the right wingnuts bashed Kerry for voting against a bill before voting for it. The bill in question was the authorization of the Iraq war. He voted against it the first time because he thought the Bush Tax cuts should be rescinded to pay for it. He then voted for it when the GOP showed they would not budge on the Bush tax cuts. The GOP couldn't bash him enough for what was a principled stand. Screw the GOP and their hypocrisy.
